The birthday of a great man is right around the corner!  Charles Darwin's 199th birthday is February 12, and groups across the country (and around the world!) are gearing up for the party! The religiously dominated holiday season is over, and now the rest of us have some celebrating of our own to gear up for. 

"Darwin Day," as the day is widely known, is an international celebration of science and humanity.  Specifically, it's a celebration of the theories of evolution and natural selection, but has broadened to include recognition of the tremendous benefits that scientific knowledge has had on the advancement of humanity.  

So what do you do for Darwin Day? All kinds of things!  Educational symposiums or discussions, birthday parties, art shows, book discussions, lobbying days, games, protests and dinner parties have all been registered at www.darwinday.org.  And secular and freethought groups have long been at the forefront of the celebration.  Why not get your group involved?
