Meet our Executive Director in Cincinnati - Tuesday, May 25th 7:00 p.m.

August Brunsman and Amanda MetskasSecular Student Alliance Executive Director will be presenting about the state of the freethought movement at a meeting of the Free Inquiry Group (FIG). The meeting will take place on Tuesday, May 25th at 7:00 p.m. at the Hannaford Suites Hotel. The Hannaford is located at 5900 East Galbraith Rd, Cincinnati, OH. The meeting is free and open to the public.

Co-presenting with August will be Camp Quest, Inc. Executive Director Amanda Metskas.

Here is a brief description of the talk:

Did you know that FIG is part of a movement of secular Americans interested both in mitigating irrationality and dogma's influence on society and making sure that non-theists are respected voices in public discourse? From Washington, DC to San Jose, California, and hundreds of places in between, things are changing. Atheists, agnostics, humanists, skeptics are getting visible and getting organized. In February 2010, the Obama administration invited members of the Secular Coalition for America to a public policy briefing on White House grounds. The Secular Student Alliance has grown from fewer than 60 campus groups just a few years ago to more than 200 today. Camp Quest, started under the wing of FIG, has been replicated in Tennessee, Minnesota, Michigan, Ontario, California, Texas and the UK. August Brunsman, executive director of the Secular Student Alliance and secretary of the Secular Coalition for America, and Amanda Metskas, executive director of Camp Quest, Inc. will provide a whirlwind update of what's going on around the country in freethought at our May 25th meeting.
