As Legal Coordinator, this individual supports the operation of the Appignani Humanist Legal Center of the American Humanist Association, providing paralegal like support of the work of our pro-bono legal team. As Grassroots Coordinator, this individual fills a supportive role to local Humanist groups across the country. Salary is dependant on skills and experience and the AHA offers good benefits, including health insurance and a 403(b) retirement savings plan. Principal Duties and Responsibilities

1. Legal
   1. Track potential lawsuits and amicus brief opportunities and assist in coordinating discussions among those on the legal team to prioritize actions
   2. Assist attorneys with legal research, procedures, and filings and maintain regular communications with all on the legal team
   3. Research, draft, and copyedit some filings and other public materials
2. Grassroots
   1. Maintain contact with 100+ chapter leaders across country and help make them more robust and successful
   2. Help produce Grass Roots News quarterly and send occasional Action Packets to chapter leaders to improve local skills and coordinate national actions
   3. Prepare mailings and provide other services for chapters

Requirements:

1.      Some legal training or experience

2.      Meticulous attention to detail while multi-tasking

3.      Strong communication skills and developed proofreading abilities

4.      Initiative to discover and take on new projects

5.      Solid computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office

6.      Commitment to the organization’s goals
