Look, Polite Atheists
The Post and Courier (of Charleston, South Carolina) ran a piece titled "Scary idea: Ghost seekers, skeptics explore creepy jail" on 4/4/07 about a joint trip of the College of Charleston's Atheist-Humanist Alliance and some local ghost hunters to a near-by abandoned prison to hunt for spooks. The Atheist-Humanist Alliance is an SSA affiliate.
The article ends rather anti-climatically, but that might be the most remarkable thing--the last paragraph is: "Each group left the jail with the same beliefs they came with. The prevailing sentiment, in the end, was politeness." Quite a bit different than the stereotype of the angry atheist.
