This application is the first step in setting up a Speakers Bureau event at your campus.

To help you get started, here is a general outline of the steps involved in setting up a Speakers Bureau visit.

-Brainstorm the event: choose a speaker (consider location and subject matter), some possible venues, a few ideal dates, a rough budget, and what kind of event you want (i.e., a lecture, debate, musical performance, panel presentation, etc.)
-Apply for your speaker using the application below. A campus organizer will contact you about your event soon!
-Finalize a date, a venue, and the event details. Be sure to arrange for any equipment or materials you will need.
-Find funding if your expenses will exceed the $300.00 Speakers Bureau amount. Consider your university's activities office, academic departments, co-sponsoring with another campus group, an SSA Project Grant, or local freethought organizations.
-Arrange for travel, lodging and other details for your speaker (some speakers will make their own arrangements).
-Establish a thorough promotional plan to generate impressive turnout. The SSA is eager to help you with this. You must acknowledge the SSA in all publicity (flyers, ads, etc.).
-Prepare an introduction for your speaker. You must acknowledge the SSA and our Speakers Bureau program in your introduction.
-Plan to thank your speaker after the event. Taking him or her out to dinner is a great option.
-Enjoy your event!

The SSA's campus organizers are more than happy to help you with your event, and will be in touch as you plan your event to make sure things are progressing smoothly. In addition, you can also contact the campus organizer (organizer(AT)secularstudents(DOT)org) with any questions or concerns you have along the way.

Best of luck with your event!
