Secular Student Alliance Seeks Summer Interns

The Secular Student Alliance (www.secularstudents.org) is seeking two college interns for the summer of 2008.

* These positions are ten weeks long and have a $200/week stipend.
* The start and stop dates are flexible, as are breaks, we only require a commitment of approximately ten weeks between mid June and late September.
* These positions are 40 hr./week positions and will take place during normal business hours except where otherwise noted.
* We are willing to be flexible in terms of time and stipend to meet academic requirements.
* The interns will work at the Humanist Center (www.humanistcenter.org) where we are housed by the Institute for Humanist Studies (IHS) in Albany, NY.

The Secular Student Alliance is seeking applicants for a part-time Regional Campus Organizer (RCO). This is an hourly position with a high degree of independence and responsibility.

The ideal candidate will have experience in atheist, freethought or humanist activism at the college level. Someone with experience leading or helping to lead a student group would be an especially strong candidate. Any experience with campus activism will be helpful. She or he will have excellent communication skills, including speaking and writing. The candidate will enjoy collaborating with people of different ages, ethnic groups, sexual orientations, and philosophical or political beliefs.

American Humanist Association hiring Legal And Grassroots Coordinator

As Legal Coordinator, this individual supports the operation of the Appignani Humanist Legal Center of the American Humanist Association, providing paralegal like support of the work of our pro-bono legal team. As Grassroots Coordinator, this individual fills a supportive role to local Humanist groups across the country. The Secular Coalition for America -- the first national lobby representing the interest of atheists, humanists and freethinkers -- is seeking a part-time Director of Communications. The mission of the Coalition is to increase the visibility and respectability of nontheistic viewpoints, and to protect and strengthen the secular character of our government as the best guarantee of freedom for all.

Position Summary

The Communications Director is responsible for planning and implementing communication strategies that will build awareness of the Coalition and its advocacy efforts. Core duties include message development and increasing exposure for the Coalition in the media. The Communications Director will work directly with the Director and Associate Director of the Coalition and with the communication departments of the Coalition's member groups.

Atheists United Seeking Newsletter Layout Editor

Atheists United is looking for someone with some artistic ability / interest, access to a computer, and some simple publishing software (even MS-Word would probably work) to spend a couple hours at the end of each month to help them assemble their newsletter.

They pay $7.50/page, and our newsletter is typically 12-16 pages, translating into $90 - $120 for a couple hours' work each month.
