I go to a school where fraternity life is quite prominent, so the idea came naturally. What does everyone else think about that? For that matter, sororities too? There are two other humanist chaplaincies at American universities(<a href="http://www.columbia.edu" target="_blank">Columbia</a> and <a href="http://www.adelphi.edu/" target="_blank">Adelphi</a>).&nbsp; What do you think of <a href="/node/1439">spreading the model of humanist chaplains</a> around the American university system?&nbsp; </p><p>Does the name itself smack too much of religion?&nbsp; Would the non-theistic members of the Virgina Tech community have benefited from having their own humanist chaplain after the <a href="/node/672">VT shootings</a>? In creating a professional leadership class are we actually creating our own priest caste?&nbsp; Can we realistically expect our communities (or numbers) to grow if we don't offer human services like religious communities have been doing for centuries?<br /></p> Building Communities 10-July-2007
