I hope everyone is having a good school year so far because it is close to the end. This year is especially exciting for me because in a couple of months I finally get to graduate! Being part of a SSA affiliated group on my campus has definitely been a highlight of my college years. I know the same is true for you guys as well.

We still have a few groups with outstanding affiliation renewals. Make sure you guys get those in!

Light the Night Kickoff Winners!

Congratulations are in order for our affiliate group Alabama Atheists and Agnostics (AAA) for raising over twice the amount of the national SSA in the Light the Night Kickoff Challenge! AAA raised $685 bucks for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society thus far - much higher than any other group. We promised a pizza party but AAA had an even better idea: catering for a Ba-by-Q (or BABY-Q) Misconception Bash to kick off their fall semester. Congratulations on winning the Kickoff Celebration Alabama Atheists and Agnostics!

Buy SSA Stuffs

We've added new items for sale at our buy supplies page. Our first new item is the SSA stamp which costs $10 bucks each. Use them to stamp forms, hands or other objects with relatively flat surfaces. We used these babies during Reason Rally and due to the demand we ordered some to sell to you at a huge discount. We also have stretchy baby blue gel wristbands which you can buy. Every $3 gets you 10 fashionable bands. You can wear them anywhere and show off your SSA pride!

Internship & Volunteer Opportunity

Two chances to improve your resume. The first is an internship opportunity from Foundation Beyond Belief - the same organization that's teaming up with LLS for Light the Night. FBB are asking for 4 summer interns for 11 weeks (June 1-August 17) for 15 hours a week. You should not expect to get paid for this internship. Non-profit sector experience is not required. Check their website for more information. Applications are due May 1st.

Atheist Alliance International and Atheist Alliance of America are seeking a new producer for their Secular World podcast. Previous podcasting experience is a plus though not required. If you are interested, email [email protected] noting your previous podcast experience (with samples/links) if relevant or attach an audio recording of a reading you have done by 30 April 2012.

Note: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) over the next few weeks will be contacting our affiliates (if you allowed your contact information to be shared publically). They will be discussing with you the possibility of setting up local teams.

Reminder: The end of the school year is quickly approaching (for you semester students) and after a quick summer, fall will be upon us. Don't forget to plan in advance for fall activity fairs and other events!

We're considering nominees for the Best Awards. Send in your application if you think you have what it takes to win. Applications are due May 31st. Check our website for more information. Awards will be handed out during our 2012 conference.

The National Day of Reason is quickly approaching! They've even updated their website and everything. Make sure you celebrate reason May 3rd.
