This Week: New Group Running Guide, Speaker's Bureau Page Update, Good News Club Documentary
Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our 2012 interns, Ellen Lundgren and Dave Muscato (who is the new American Atheists' Public Relations Director!), we are able to present to you: the updated Group Running Guide! This is the book group leaders get when they apply for a Group Starting Packet, or newly affiliate with us.
You can download your own copy of the Group Running Guide in .PDF form, or you can request a physical copy. Either way, this book was created from the combined experience of many people who have run their own secular groups. Treat it as your group's bible (ha).
Take a look at it! We guarantee you'll learn something!
You know our Speakers Bureau? We have over 80 national speakers (and that's not even including our student speakers or our regional speakers) on our Speakers Bureau...in fact, we had so many speakers, our Speakers Bureau page was getting a little cluttered! So, we updated it!
Check out our new /Speakers page, where you can learn all about the Speakers Bureau, how to get someone at your school, how to apply for funding, and many other things!
Katherine Stewart (a member of our Speakers Bureau) wrote a book investigating the Good News Club, which is an Evangelical Christian club that focuses on children ages 5-12. One of the founders of a Secular Student Alliance affiliate group investigated the Good News Club and made a 30 minute documentary about it on YouTube. This would be a great idea for a meeting, because it allows time for discussion afterward. We're very proud to see our students being activists and publicly showing what they've discovered and accomplished.
